CENTRE OF EXCELLENCE IN SATELLITE TECHNOLOGY

The Centre for Satellite Technology is the advanced research centre created in HITS to accelerate the growth of Space based technological applications for the benefits of Society and to impart advanced training & research in the field of Satellite Technology and Development. It is the first Satellite Technology research, training and development centre of its kind among Indian Educational Institutes. The centre will have Research & Development expertise in the following fields;

 

  1. Nano Satellite 

  2. Mission Design

  3. Nano Satellite Constellation

  4. Constellation Optimization

  5. Cube Sats

  6. Low Earth Orbit Satellite Tracking Station

  7. Precision Agriculture using space technology

  8. Astronomy

2. Objectives of CEST

  1. Develop a series of Nano satellites to cater the societal needs of water body monitoring, fisherman SoS, earth radiation mapping etc

  2. Demonstrate Inter Satellite Communication within a series of LEO satellite constellation.

  3. Develop and deploy various ground-based sensors like Asset tracking, Water level tracking of ponds etc and connect it with the satellite constellation for real time data transfer.

  4. Impart training to the students in the continuously evolving areas of satellite technology

  5. Develop in-house Infrastructure for Small Satellite Technology

  6. Develop UG, PG, Certification, Diploma, PG Diploma and Ph.D courses in the fields of Satellite Technology and Space Systems.

  7. Implement R&D programs to Develop Optimized satellite bus Architecture, Application Specific High-Resolution Payloads and Data Processing Applications.

  8. Collaborate with National and International institutions for Technology Developments, Facility Establishment.

  9. Contribute to the National and Global Small Satellite Programs by providing Components, Sub systems and Technology assistance.

  10. Establish a State-of-the-Art Ground Station for Tracking Satellites in the LEO.

  11. Collaborate with the International Ground Station Network like TuDelft and provide satellite tracking facility for the various small satellites launched by Educational / Research institutes.

  12. To promote awareness and research in the field of Astronomy

  12. Thermal Analysis of Satellites (Hardware/Software)

  13. Development & Testing of Satellite Components – Mechanical/Electronics

  14. Development & Testing of Satellite Attitude Control System

  15. Design & Development of Application Oriented Satellite Payloads

  16. Calibration of Satellite Sensors and Actuators

  17. Testing of Transmitter & Receiver Module Using Ground Station

  18. Antenna patterns on platforms such as aircraft, tanks and boats

  19. Side lobes reduction for applications such as radiometry and energy transfer

CENTRE OF EXCELLENCE IN AIRCRAFT MAINTENANCE (CEAM)

Centre for excellence in Aircraft Maintenance (CEAM) is a world class facility which caters to the needs of aircraft maintenance in the aviation sector. CEAM is focused on developing skilled manpower in the field of aircraft maintenance, synergizing the strength of the institute. The areas of Aircraft Maintenance, Avionics, Aircraft Instrumentation and Aircraft Management are explored with emphasis on training on live aircrafts.

CEAM offers Post Graduate Diploma in Aircraft Maintenance for engineering graduates and short term courses for employees of Industry. Over 800 engineers of Hindustan Aeronautics Limited, (HAL) have undergone specialized training in Aeronautics & Manufacturing Technology, Introduction to Avionics, Aircraft Design & Manufacturing and Aerodynamics & Avionics. CEAM also conducts short term training in Airframe Repair and Maintenance for industry aspirants and offers consultancy for Aviation Industry.

Objectives

  • To conduct Masters and Certificate Courses in Aircraft Maintenance and Avionics.

  • To conduct Short-Term Certificate Courses in Aircraft Maintenance and Avionics for those working in Aviation Sector as well as the student community.

  • To implement on-job training to students in Aircraft Maintenance, Avionics, etc.

  • To conduct Induction Training Programmes for staff from the Aviation Industry.

  • To conduct seminars and symposia as well as value addition programmes on Aircraft Maintenance, Avionics, Quality Control Procedures, etc. for Aviation Professionals.

  • To establish an excellent center for R&D in Avionics, Aircraft Instruments, etc.

  • To offer Engineering Solutions and Consultancy.

  • To set up a maintenance base for imparting on-job training to students on live aircraft.
